As the Prefect Supervisor, I am delighted to introduce the 2024-2025 Prefect Team. These dedicated individuals play an essential role in promoting a united community and empowering students. They provide valuable support to both peers and faculty. Our selection process were not limited to academic achievement but also included those who could make a meaningful positive impact on our school community.

Working closely with these 26 young leaders, including our new Theater Prefect, alongside the four G12 Head Prefects, has been a truly rewarding experience throughout the academic year. Life is not just about reaching milestones; it’s about valuing the journey. The Prefect Team has significantly enriched our school life, inspiring and motivating their peers to fulfill their potential.

Academia
We are the 2024-2025 Academia Prefects, Emma Fan and Warren Su. As Academia Prefects, we are in charge of organizing a series of academic-related events and clubs including Pi Day, World Book Day, and lunch clubs. Throughout the year, we strive to make academic events both intellectually rigorous and engaging, inviting wide participation.
我们是 2024-2025 学年学生会的学术干事，Emma Fan 和 Warren Su。作为学术干事，我们负责组织一系列与学术相关的活动和俱乐部，包括圆周率日、世界读书日和学生俱乐部等。在这一学年中，我们致力于打造兼具学术性和趣味性的学术活动，促进广泛的参与。
Pie Day
One of the main events we held this year is Pi Day, a charitable celebration of the mathematical constant π. During the week, we held several mathematical activities such as Pi Recitation, Maths Puzzle and Circle Area Estimation, as well as the bidding for Pie-in-Face event in which students can “pie” teachers in the face. On Pi Day, we held 3 pi-related activities including Pie-in-Face, Spin-to-win, and The Infinite Run. For the traditional Pi Day activity Pie-in-Face, we also introduced a new mechanism, the mystery box, which further heightens its playfulness. All of these activities were well-attended by the school community, with Pie-in-Face raising a total of 10355rmb for charity, breaking the previous record.
圆周率日是我们今年举办的一个主要活动，这是一个庆祝数学常数π的慈善活动。在这一周里，我们举行了多项数学活动，如圆周率背诵、数学拼图和圆面积估算，以及万众期待的“面对面砸派 ”竞标活动。在这一活动中，学生可以往老师脸上扔象征着“派”的剃须泡沫。在圆周率日当天，我们共举行了三项与圆周率有关的活动，包括“面对面砸派”、“不断旋转 ”和“无限跑”。在传统的圆周率活动“面对面砸派 ”中，我们还引入了新的机制——神秘盒子，进一步增强了活动的趣味性。所有这些活动都得到了全校师生的踊跃参与，其中 “面对面砸派 ”活动共为学校的慈善项目筹集了 10,355 元人民币，打破了之前的最高记录。
World Book Day
World Book Day is also a major event that we’ve organized this year. We held the first-ever Book Review Posters Exhibition, which opened the floor to students to submit posters about a book they were interested in or currently reading. We received and displayed dozens of gorgeous posters for viewing and reading. In addition, we also organized the Book Costume Day and many more fun activities such as Scavenger Hunt for a whole week to elicit and showcase students’ enthusiasm and appreciation for books.
世界读书日也是我们今年组织的一项重要活动。今年，我们首次举办了“书评海报展”，学生们可以就自己感兴趣或正在阅读的一本书提交海报。我们共收到并展出了几十张精美的海报，供大家欣赏和阅读。此外，我们组织了为期一周的读书相关活动，例如图书装扮日和寻宝游戏等，以激发和展示学生对图书的热情。
Official Account
Events are only a part of the role of the Academia Prefects. We are also in charge of many other academic-related matters. One of our major focuses this year has been on spreading awareness about academic competitions associated with our school, which we find to be a greatly underutilized asset. In this regard we have been publishing newsletters on academic competitions throughout the school year on our wechat official account “SUIS-GB Scholars”, focusing primarily on stem-related competitions. In addition to this, we also post articles on topics such as tips for exam preparation and crossword puzzles. Moreover, we have also promoted the official preparation groups in our school for the competitions via morning announcements. As a result of these promotions, we hope to see an increase in students participating in these academic competitions and challenging themselves both inside and outside of the classroom.
学术活动只是学术干事职责的一部分。除此以外，我们还负责许多其他与学术相关的事务。今年，我们的工作重点之一是宣传与本校相关的学术竞赛，我们认为这是一项未得到充分利用的宝贵财富。为此，我们在一整个学年中都持续地在我们的微信官方账号“SUISGBScholars”上发布学术竞赛通讯。并且，我们还会经常发布备考技巧和填字游戏等主题的文章。此外，我们还通过晨间通知在学校里宣传了这些学术竞赛的学校备赛群聊。通过这些宣传，我们希望看到更多的学生参与到这些学科竞赛中来，在课堂内外挑战自我。
Student-led Clubs
In addition to promoting academic competitions, we are also in charge of managing student-led clubs. Student-led clubs are gatherings held every week during lunchtime. Led by motivated students who seek to foster a community around a particular topic of interest, student clubs offer a great opportunity for students to engage with academic content outside of the classroom. This year, we managed 5 student-led clubs, all of which differ in subject and format. In particular, we were responsible for allocating the different time slots for student clubs, the advertisement for the clubs, and also managing their involvement in certain events.

Theatre
I am your Theatre Prefect Thomas Chen. The traditional Chinese saying can summarize this journey well, “All beginnings are difficult”. It was not the easiest journey, being the first student to ever take the job as a Theatre Prefect, meaning that I have no predecessor to directly learn from and no prior foundation for the work I was expected to carry out. But naturally, this also means room for expansion and trust me, the Theatre Department and I had a vision in mind.
我是学生会戏剧干事——陈俊亨Thomas。老话说得好：“万事开头难。”我的这段旅程，也恰如其分地应证了这句话。作为首位担任学生会戏剧干事的学生，我没有前辈可循，没有现成的基础可借，只能在无路处摸索前行。然而，也正因如此，这段路途才拥有了无限拓展的可能。
I started off by founding the school Theatre Team – Breaking Brilliance, aiming to create and perform original and completely student-led performance pieces and offer a stage for theatrical enthusiasts. In our first year, we managed to synthesize two original immersive theatre pieces: “SE7EN” and “Treason’s Edge”, while expanding our size to 25 members.
一切始于我创立了校戏剧团队“破茧之光”（Breaking Brilliance）。我们的初衷，是打造一个由学生主导、原创演绎的舞台，让每一位热爱戏剧的同学都能闪耀光芒。首年之内，我们便成功创作并演出了两部沉浸式原创作品：《七宗罪》（SE7EN) 和《临界谍影》 (Treason’s Edge)，团队人数也扩展至25人。
Afterwards, our focus shifted to another original, bold, and significant event – The SUIS Theatre Week, fully dedicated to all theatre enthusiasts in our community and every single member of our beloved audience. It was 5 days of creative, entertaining and immersive theatrical experience with surprise performances, lunch performances, a Theatre Evening, and pure student talent.
此后，我同戏剧部将目光投向另一场原创、大胆、意义深远的盛会——“戏剧周”。这是一场为所有戏剧爱好者而设的节日，也献给每一位珍贵观众的心意。五天里，惊喜演出、午间快闪、戏剧之夜接踵而至，沉浸式的剧场体验与学生的无限才华交相辉映。
The Annual Lip-Sync Competition has also evolved into a Gubei tradition, where everyone may present their love and appreciation for their favorite songs to the entire school community to enjoy. The key significance of this event is the fact that performers are not allowed to sing but rather need to “lip-sync”, allowing more focus on their theatrical expressions and creativity displayed on stage.
一年一度的对口型大赛，如今也已成为协和古北校园的传统。它让每一位同学都能以最具创意与表现力的方式，向全校展现他们对音乐的热爱与理解。由于表演者不允许真正“演唱”，反而更激发了他们对戏剧表现力与舞台张力的极致追求。
It was a truly a remarkable year for Theatre. We hosted three school Productions, two of them being completely original and one of them being an original adaptation of Austin Powers. 《大圣归来》hit the stage first, being a completely original Chinese production written by Ms. Angel Tang and directed by Ms. Liv Jiang, co-directed with Thomas Chen. The story’s inspiration was drawn from the classic Chinese story “Journey to the West”, yet its plot was completely driven by the creativity and critical mindset of our writer. The famous spy-comedy “Austin Powers” came in the spring, adapted from the original movie into a high-school-friendly production for stage by Mr Leon Bennetts who directed the production alongside Mr. Franco de Wet and acting coach Mr Pierig Vezin. The show’s creative, bold, and somewhat limited budget forged a cringe yet extremely entertaining experience. Finally, in May, “Treason’s Edge” was presented on stage, a fully original World War II spy-thriller driven completely by a student cast and creative team (Theatre Team Breaking Brilliance), and maybe a bit of help from our teachers here and there.
这一年，对于戏剧而言，无疑是非凡的一年。我们共呈现三场大型校内制作，其中两部为完全原创，一部为经典改编。《大圣归来》率先登上舞台，这是一部由汤老师原创编剧、蒋老师执导、我协助执导的中文原创剧作，灵感源自中国传统故事《西游记》，却由作者的创造力与批判思维赋予了全新生命。春季，我们带来了改编自经典喜剧电影的校园版《王牌大贱谍》（Austin Powers），由Leon Bennetts老师改编剧本并执导，Franco de Wet老师与表演指导Pierig Vezin老师联合执导。该剧虽预算有限，却因其创意大胆、风格独特，带来了令人“又尴尬又上头”的娱乐体验。最终，在五月，我们将原创谍战剧《临界谍影》呈现在观众面前——一部由学生团队（Breaking Brilliance）自主创作、完全自导自演的二战题材剧作，当然，也少不了几位老师在幕后默默的协助与点拨。
We also hosted a filmmaking workshop along with Tim Giovanni – industry expert and experienced filmmaker during which Mr. Giovanni gave a lecture to our young filmmaking enthusiasts and offering advice for stepping into the industry.
此外，我们还邀请了资深电影人Tim Giovanni先生举办了一场电影制作工作坊。在讲座中，Giovanni先生向我校对电影感兴趣的同学分享了业内经验，并给予了宝贵建议，激励他们迈出投身影像艺术的第一步。
All in all, this explorational and adventurous journey would not have been possible without the wholehearted contributions and support from our entire SUIS Gubei community, and the endless guidance from the entire theatre department. Your their patience, support, and trust, keep on motivating us to make our theatre community a better existence.

Sports
As sports prefects, our main event this year was sports day, yet our year has been filled with various other events regarding sports. We started the year by recruiting sports managers, this role was crucial for the home games of the grizzlies within the SSSA league, we then engaged ourselves with announcing sports games and giving out‘athlete of the month’awards during assemblies, then we concluded our year with the event‘sports day’. Now, we would like to share some of our experiences and feelings being sports prefects.
我们是 2024-2025 学年学生会的体育干事，Yilia Zhou 和 Channing Bao。作为sports prefects，我们今年的核心任务便是筹办运动会，但我们的工作却远不止于此。从学年初招募赛事管理员开始（这对Grizzlies参加SSSA联赛的主场比赛至关重要），到晨会上宣布赛事信息并颁发”月度最佳运动员”奖项，直至最终成功举办运动会，这一年充实而有意义。在此，我们想分享担任sports prefect的感受与经验。
Starting off, we would say that communication and cooperation is the key to success. Throughout the year, there were numerous times where we both had to communicate with the PE department, sports managers, and captains. During sports day, we started planning for the event starting from January, we constantly talked with the PE department and met up several times with Mr Pinto throughout the couple of months in order for us to update each other on the progress we made. This was a complicated process as we had to change the plan for sports day in accordance to the updates we got, adjust small details within our schedule, and inform the other prefects about the information we have. Besides communication, we also needed to cooperate with each other throughout the process. Sports day requires a lot of planning ahead of time, both of us contributed to helping the PE department, as well as making our own script for sports day in advance. There were times where we both have creative ideas which contradicted each other’s, we would eventually discuss our visions and come to an agreement.
首先，沟通与协作是成功的关键。在过去一年中，我们经常需要与体育教学组、赛事管理员及各运动队队长保持沟通。运动会筹备工作自一月启动以来，我们与体育组保持密切联系，并多次与Pinto老师开会讨论进度。这是一个复杂的过程：我们需要根据最新情况调整方案、修改细节安排，并及时将信息同步给其他领袖。除了沟通，相互协作同样重要。在前期准备中，我们既要协助体育组工作，又要提前撰写活动主持稿。当出现意见分歧时，我们总能通过充分讨论达成共识。
Apart from the communications and cooperation, organizing the sports manager team and the sports day have also been a challenge throughout the year. Being a year long project, the sports manager team have faced a significant amount of challenges throughout the school year. At the beginning organizing the sports manager team was difficult for us due to the great amount of game schedules and lack of sports managers to help out during exam weeks. However, with our adjustments in organizing the team, we changes our way in assigning managers to games and gathering new managers from different grades so game schedules could be fulfilled. While for the Sports Day, one of the greatest school event annually, the organization challenges come in different ways. The most difficult part of Sports Day was the ability to adapt and change the organizations of the opening and ending in time. Things could change in every second, for instance 5 minutes ago the schedule may went faster than planned and 5 minutes later it became slower than expected. However, the day was a succeed with the timely adjustments we have made working together with the house captains.
沟通与协作之外，组织赛事管理员团队和筹办运动会也是今年面临的一大挑战。赛事管理员团队全年都面临着各种考验。初期由于赛程密集且考试周人手不足，团队运作遇到困难。后来我们通过改进人员分配机制、跨年级招募新人，最终确保了赛事顺利进行。而作为年度重要活动的运动会，其筹备工作更具挑战性，尤其是需要根据现场情况及时调整开幕式和闭幕式流程。活动当天，进度可能随时变化，但在和house captains的配合下，我们通过灵活调整保证了活动圆满完成。
In conclusion, as sports prefects this academic year was indeed a huge challenge and exercise for us on leadership. From communicating and cooperating with teachers and students to organizing events, we have learned and grew through the year in various dynamics. The role as a sports prefect does not only made us help the school in events but also brought ourselves changes and improvements.
回顾这一学年，担任sports prefect是对我们领导能力的全面锻炼。从师生沟通到活动组织，我们在各个方面都得到了成长。这一职务不仅让我们为学校活动贡献力量，更使我们实现了自我提升。
Music
If we were to use one word to encapsulate this year’s spirit in music, we are certain to say that “integration” played a great role in the duration of our career as Music prefects. Whether from the new collaboration with our Theatre prefect during Winter Bazaar to arrange the magnificent performances to our joint efforts with the Community and Art teams at the senior Prom and culminating in our collective performance at the winter concert; all of which strengthened our bonds between each other and enriched our understanding of music with the world around us.
我们是 2024-2025 学年学生会的音乐干事，Martin Ma 和 Naomi Kong。如果要用一个词来概括我们今年在音乐方面的精神，那必定是“融合”。无论是我们在冬日市集与戏剧干事的全新合作，共同筹备精彩的演出，还是在毕业舞会中与社区和艺术领袖的通力合作，直至我们在冬季音乐会上的集体表演——这一切不仅加深了我们彼此之间的联系，也丰富了我们对音乐与世界之间关系的理解。
As this year’s Music prefects- Martin Ma and Naomi Kong- our role extends beyond the stage. We were responsible for organizing numerous musical events around the school, varying from Winter Bazaar performances to the Music Gala and the Senior Prom. While most of our work is completed behind the stage and may seem elementary and overlooked, it demanded significant coordination amongst ourselves and the performers. Our work as a team followed a rigorous procedure: starting from the promotion of events, moving on to the recruitment and assessment of performances with the Music department together, and the final execution of the performances themselves.
作为音乐干事，我们的职责远不止于舞台表演。我们负责组织学校内多场音乐活动，从冬日市集演出、音乐盛会到毕业舞会，活动形式多样。虽然我们大多的工作都发生在幕后，流程可能看起来简单、且容易被忽视的，但这背后需要我们与表演者之间高度的协调与配合。我们的工作流程严谨，从活动宣传开始，到与学校的音乐组一起筛选和评估表演者，最终落实每一场演出的各项细节。
Every Wednesday we also have our Music Clinic as a weekly commitment, where we support fellow students with theory knowledge and compositional ideas. It is the joy of succession which fueled our passion and love in the community around us.
每周三，我们还会举行“音乐工坊”，这是我们的固定任务之一。在这段时间里，我们会帮助有需要的同学们巩固乐理知识并提供作曲方面的建议。正是这种薪火相传的快乐，点燃了我们对社区的热爱与热情。
Music, in a nutshell, is our passion, enjoyment, and life. As people, we are indulged in the beauty of music; as humans, we are exposed to the diverse musical genres learnt throughout our courses; and as Music prefects, we are elated to share this love amongst others through the mediums of school events and bring the community together.
简单来说，音乐是我们的热情、乐趣与生活本身。作为个体，我们沉浸在音乐的美中；作为学生，我们接触课程中各种不同的音乐风格；而作为音乐干事，我们更是满怀喜悦地通过校内活动传播这份热爱，将整个校园社区凝聚在一起。
However, being a prefect does not come without its challenges. We have experienced many issues and obstacles thrown in our way, such as last-minute assembly performance changes, technical difficulties, communication problems, and even major events cancelled due to unfortunate circumstances. One of our greatest accomplishments this year was the Music Gala, a full 1-hour concert performed by the SUIS Gubei Festival Orchestra. This year, we decided to host the event through the format of news reporting. We had the challenge of coming up with a unique script, training our hosts on news-style delivery and juggling between rehearsals and the IB coursework, all under limited time. In the end, our persistence and determination paid off when we saw how music truly brings people joy to both the audience and our performers. Being able to have firsthand experience behind the scenes have opened our eyes in seeing how much preparation and skills are needed to run an event.
然而，担任这一职责并非毫无挑战。我们面对了各种问题与突发状况，例如临时变动的集会演出、技术故障、沟通问题，甚至有大型活动因特殊原因被迫取消等。今年我们最大的成就之一是音乐盛会——由协和古北节日乐团带来的一小时音乐会。今年，我们创新性地采用新闻播报的形式贯穿整场演出。在筹备过程中，我们需要创作独特的脚本，培训主持人掌握新闻风格的表达方式，同时在有限的时间内平衡彩排与IB课业。最终，看到音乐为观众与表演者带来了纯粹的快乐，我们的坚持与努力也得到了最好的回报。这些幕后工作的亲身经历也让我们深刻意识到，成功举办一场活动所需的筹备与技能远比想象中复杂。
Looking back, being a music prefect does not only mean excelling in performance and musicianship but also having the ability to handle the pressures and expectations of others, juggle between schoolwork and our prefect duties as well as becoming a role-model for others. Learning is part of the process, and endless reflections after every event is necessary for growth. Through these processes, we have grown as leaders and people who strive to become better in our jobs and responsibilities. Cooperation with the music department was also essential in everything we did this year. We are deeply thankful for their mentorship and encouragement throughout the year. Without their guidance, we would certainly be lost without them. We are also thankful for the opportunity to contribute to the school this year as well as all the people who worked just as hard, or even harder, to put all music-related events together.
回首这一年，成为音乐领袖不仅仅是展现表演与音乐素养，更重要的是承受外界的期待与压力，在课业与工作之中找到平衡，并成为他人的榜样。学习亦是成长的一部分，每场活动后的反思更是不可或缺。正是在这些过程中，我们成长为更成熟、更具责任感的领导者。音乐组的支持在我们今年的工作中也起到了至关重要的作用，我们对他们的指导和鼓励心怀感激。没有他们的引导，我们定会迷失方向。我们也感谢学校给予我们这个宝贵的机会，让我们有幸为校园做出贡献。同时，感谢所有在音乐相关活动中努力付出的人们，你们的辛劳和热情才让这些活动得以圆满完成。
Thank you to the prefect team, prefect supervisors, music department as well as the hard-working school workers for giving us a memorable junior year in high school. And thank you to you, the audience, for making all this worthwhile.

Throughout the year, we’ve been responsible for providing artistic support for various school events and projects. From posters to visual designs, our role has been to bring ideas to life and ensure that every detail aligns with the school’s vision. One of our proudest achievements has been establishing an art team of over 50 passionate student artists. Their artworks not only brighten up our environment, but also represent the creativity and imagination of each student. Our goal was to create a platform where students with artistic talent could shine, and to allow their work to communicate messages, emotions, and stories.
这一年来，我们主要负责为校内各类活动和项目提供艺术支持。从海报到视觉设计，我们的职责是将概念变为视觉语言，确保每一项设计都能契合学校的整体理念。其中，我们最自豪的成就之一，是建立了由50多位热爱艺术的同学组成的艺术团队。他们的作品不仅美化了校园环境，更展现了每位学生独特的创意与想象力。我们希望通过这个平台，让具有艺术天赋的同学发光发热，用作品传达情感、故事与思想。
We also organized several memorable art workshops throughout the school year, such as the Winter Bazaar Workshop and the Science Corridor Decoration Workshop. It was truly inspiring to see students express their passion for visual art, collaborate to create work they were proud of, and contribute to enhancing the school environment. All handmade crafts sold out during the Winter Bazaar, and the colorful window designs in the science corridor were also warmly received. The students poured effort into their creations, and their enthusiasm was both recognized and celebrated.

We were also responsible for designing posters, program cards, and LED backdrops for school events, like prom. Prom was undeniably a team effort — from music and organization to props, design, and behind-the-scenes coordination, everyone gave their best. It was admittedly an exhausting but incredibly rewarding experience that highlighted the importance of clear communication, collaboration, and dedication.

House Captains
House Captains are a unique branch of the Prefect team, one emphasizing unique duality, balancing roles subjected to very different expectations. As prefects, we dedicate ourselves to being student role models who act professionally and formally, trusted to maintain composed and authoritative demeanors. House captains, on the other hand, adopt a more vibrant approach of confidence and spirit. From our weekly assemblies, house point updates, to monthly subject-themed house competitions, and finally to the annual sports day, we embody our house spirit through enthusiasm and confidence. Throughout the academic year, we have dedicated ourselves to four defining qualities: confidence, adaptability, creativity, and communication. These traits were first modeled by our predecessors, and now we bring our own light to them, blending structured duties with dynamic leadership, while mastering both planning and execution.

Serving as House Captain has transformed confidence from a keyword, which appeared several times in the guidelines we’ve seen on the prefect orientation day, into a lived reality. This role demanded that we be both the architect and the executor for house competitions. We have to be versatile to come up with novel ideas every month, enthusiastic to encourage and impact other people, and consistent to demonstrate what a role model should be like. Our confidence was forged in this complicated yet impactful role. Each house competition shaped our developmental path of becoming a leader, and this cumulative experience transformed into an overall confidence in not only what we do, but who we are.

It’s never just one thing when you’re a House Captain—you gotta stay on your toes. Changes come unexpectedly, seemingly perfect plans won’t always work out, and we panic. Luckily, we are an adaptable bunch of individuals. We adapt to different roles: one moment we’re cheering our house on, the next we’re dancing during the lip-sync competition or dressing up as mascots and running into the auditorium. And we’re adaptable to situations where things don’t go as planned.Take our science house competition, for instance. We planned a physical trivia in the basketball gym for all grades. But when the grade nines and twelves came, way more students showed up than expected. It was total chaos, as our voices were drowned out by theirs. There was panic, but we regrouped and changed the rules of attendance for the following grades and made the rest of the day run much more smoothly. At the end of the day, despite a sore throat and a worn-out body, it was an extremely successful debut to the role for all of us. Being versatile and adaptive isn’t just only a personal skill – it is a survival tactic for house captains!

Creativity was our secret weapon–– an essential part of our role as House Captains. Our responsibility was to develop exciting and engaging activities to unite our houses. Together we reimagined existing ideas, added twists to known games and designed original ones from scratch. Planning usually begins a month before each event, involving many discussions, comparisons, and refinements to ensure the games were both enjoyable and aligned with the event’s theme.

A prime example of this was the Chinese House event. Held shortly after Chinese New Year, we celebrated the arrival of the Year of the Snake by incorporating the zodiac animal’s symbolism into our games. We designed snake-themed challenges that mirrored the snake’s key traits—agility, cleverness, and unpredictability—testing participants’ strategy, and teamwork. To deepen the cultural connection, we incorporated Chinese idiomatic expressions into the activities, naming games after well-known phrases and designing challenges around their meanings.

This event highlighted how creativity wasn’t just needed to make things fun but also crafted meaning. After all, hosting House events wasn’t merely about organising activities, it was about turning ordinary moments into something memorable, meaningful and unifying for everyone involved.

From the beginning, communication has guided every part of our journey as House Captains. Whether it was planning events or handling last-minute challenges, we were constantly exchanging ideas, adjusting plans, and making sure everyone—from fellow prefects to participants—was aligned and energized. One of the biggest highlights was the Theater House Competition, which truly put our communication skills to the test. From sign-ups and promotions to auditions, rehearsals, and the final performance, every stage called for teamwork, quick thinking, and clear, consistent communication. We collaborated with performers, staff, the theater team, and the tech crew, balancing detailed planning with creative flow. We also took to the stage ourselves, choreographing and performing a lip-sync ‘battle’ that became one of our most unforgettable moments. Through shared goals and consistent teamwork, we gradually developed a tacit understanding that made coordination feel seamless. This experience showed us that communication isn’t just about managing tasks, it’s what brings ideas to life and keeps a team connected.

Looking back, we have undeniably thrived together as a team in more ways than one. We want to take this time to appreciate our school for this invaluable opportunity—for growth, for experience, and for all the joy our titles brought. If anything, our roles as House Captains fostered new understandings of confidence, adaptibility, creativity, and communication, ultimately bringing us closer to becoming the Brilliant Learners we aspire to be.

Media
The SUIS-GB media team is proud of our contribution for another school year of events. Throughout the semester, media team members participated in a wide variety of school events. From Grizzlies competitions to house events, from the winter bazaar to the school productions, our media team members work hard to capture the moment and preserve precious memories for the school community. It’s worth noting that this year, we also collaborated with the new Grizzlies Nation ECA led by Mr Cirilo, enhancing our quality of video media services.

The main media event this year was our photo exhibition ‘The Impression of Time’. As the third photography exhibition held in Gubei campus, this year’s exhibition assessed photographers’ creative and technical skills, as well as providing an interactive platform for participant and audience alike to enjoy photography. With more than fifty participants from both student and staff, we were delighted to see such enthusiasm for photography from our school community.
今年的核心媒体活动是我们的摄影展“时光的印迹”。作为在古北校区举办的第三届摄影展，今年的展览评估了摄影师的创新和技术技能，并为参与者和观众提供了一个互动的平台来欣赏摄影作品。来自学生和教职员工的五十多名参与者让我们欣喜地看到了整个学校对摄影的热情。
As media prefects, it is our duty to organize and lead the media team, foster communication between school admin and our photographers alongside our prefect duties. The SUIS media team, composed of 26 students, contributes for the majority of photos and videos displayed around the school and in official social media channels.

The SUIS tech team works closely with the media team in school assemblies, drama productions and music galas. They are in charge of sound, lighting, music and backdrop for any event in the school auditorium.

As Community Prefects, this year has been a true testament to the power of teamwork and collaboration. From the festive energy of the Winter Bazaar to the glittering nostalgia of the graduation Prom, our role as event organizers was not just about planning events, but about shaping moments that reflected the heart of our school community through collaboration and shared purpose.

Winter Bazaar
The Winter Bazaar displayed a vibrant and active celebration of community and charity. Behind the scenes, we worked with over 100 student representatives to approve and refine every detail, bringing their stall ideas to life, mapping out the school’s layout to transform it into a bustling marketplace, and collaborating with Art Prefects to deck the halls with festive decorations. Our own Community Stall, featuring teacher-themed stickers and a snowball bowling game, became a hub of laughter, but the true reward was seeing every form’s creativity shine while raising record breaking funds for our school’s collaborating charity. Doubling last year’s revenue was a great milestone, but also proof of how collective effort can magnify impact.

Prom
Prom was a very special night to honor the Grade 12s’ journey, and this year’s planning was a true team effort across prefect groups. With guidance from teachers, we worked closely in the two months visiting the Garden Hotel, compare decoration ideas with extrenal partners, shaping every detail around our 1920s theme. The Art prefects also worked with us, bringing the vision to life with stunning posters, ticket, and screen designs, while the Music prefects organised the playlist and DJ. Ms. Coffey’s handmade touches also added warmth to the venue. At the actual day, we arrived a few hours early to make sure everything worked out just as we imagined, by the afternoon, the ballroom had fully transformed. As lights danced across dresses and the photo booth buzzes with excitement, we felt a quiet rewarding feeling, not just in how it looked, but in how we made it happen together. The Grade 12s’ laugh and enjoyment was the reward that made every step worth it.

This year as Community Prefects, from early brainstorming sessions to last minute problem-solving, every step reminded us on the importance of listening and adapting to bring people together. Whether coordinating with teachers, classmates, or outside partners, success comes not from simply ticking off a checklist, but from building genuine connections.

Charity
As Charity Prefects for the 2024–2025 academic year, we are proud to reflect on a year defined by heartfelt service, community engagement, and purposeful giving. From the festive spirit of Pawky Day to the meaningful conversations during our BaoEn Temple visit, every initiative was a reflection of our collective compassion. We are incredibly honored to have raised 115,707 RMB for BaoEn Temple—an achievement that speaks volumes about the strength of unity in the SUIS Gubei community.
作为2024–2025学年的Charity Prefects，我们满怀自豪地回顾这一年充满爱心服务、社区参与与有意义的奉献。从充满欢乐与感恩氛围的 Pawky Day 到五一假期报恩寺的深度参访，每一项活动都凝聚了我们集体的善意与温情。今年我们共为报恩寺成功筹集了 115,707 元人民币，这一成就充分体现了协和古北社区团结一致、共同奉献的强大力量。
Each event we hosted this year was more than just a fundraiser—it was a platform to inspire empathy and create lasting connections. The Animal Therapy Workshop taught us the healing power of interspecies companionship, while the Charity Run infused fun and fitness . Our final Pet Exhibition, in collaboration with German Week, was a celebration of the love we share for animals and a symbol of our enduring commitment to advocacy.

Prefect Trip
The destination for this year’s prefect trip was the “Seven-Two Ideal Village” (七十二家理想村) in Taicang, named after the original 72 settlements that once made up the village.
今年的学生会之旅的目的地是位于太仓的 “七十二家理想村”。这个名字源自村落最初的七十二户人家，也寄托着人们对理想生活的美好期许。
Before settling down at the hotel, we visited the Taicang Jiangtan Wetland Park, where we stretched our legs and enjoyed the natural views. Despite the pouring rain, we proceeded with our planned bike ride in the park. A few adventurous individuals also attempted “off-road” biking and failed, while others enjoyed the experience and raced each other in a friendly manner.
在抵达酒店安顿之前，我们首先造访了太仓江滩湿地公园，在那片宽阔天地间舒展四肢，感受自然的馈赠。尽管天公不作美，雨势滂沱，但我们仍踏上自行车，驰骋在公园小道。几位 “勇士” 甚至挑战了 “越野骑行”，虽然以失败告终，但笑声不断；而其他人则在细雨中你追我赶，享受着青春洋溢的畅快。
After the exhausting exercise, the team settled at the accommodation and enjoyed an agritainment-style lunch with fresh local aquatic products. During the free afternoon, many engaged in relaxing activities such as beachcombing or enjoying afternoon tea, while a few more athletic prefects shared the pool with Principal Liu and Mr Ledger, privileged to witness their athletic swimming moves.
经过一番体能 “洗礼”，学生会团队入住了当地民宿，随即享用了地道的农家乐午餐。新鲜的水产、热气腾腾的菜肴，都是这片水乡最诚挚的馈赠。午后的闲暇时光中，有人漫步沙滩拾贝，有人则在泳池中与刘校长和Ledger老师 “偶遇”，有幸见识到老师们娴熟的泳姿，令人敬佩不已。
Nothing could end the night on a higher note than a KTV session. The absolute highlight of the evening was an original song composed by Naomi Kong and Debra Yin, dedicated to the entire prefect team—from leading teachers to every prefect—expressing appreciation, gratitude, and best regards in an original and down-to-earth way. Under the colorful disco lights and reveling atmosphere, everyone soon lost track of time. The night ended with our echoing voices singing “Love in the Dark” and “See You Again”. Although Day 1 was marked by gloomy skies and persistent rain, the team’s high spirits lasted well into the night.

Everyone hoped for sunshine on Day 2, and the sky did not disappoint—the vibrant rays finally broke through the clouds in the morning. Some of us woke up at 4:30 AM to catch the dawn at the seaside dais, while others slept in until 10 AM. The journey continued as we toured the village, visiting museums and heritage sites that showcased the village’s historical transformation. Beyond the fun, we also gained insights into the fascinating history of this region.
第一天在意犹未尽中落幕，也让第二天更添期待。凌晨 4:30，早起的学生会干事们踏上观日出的征途，在海边见证第一缕阳光划破天际；而另一部分成员则安然熟睡至上午时分。当天的行程包括对村落的深度探访 —— 走进展示村庄蜕变历程的博物馆，再次登上海边栈台，俯瞰整个理想村的宁静与希望。
The two days flew by, with every moment—from watching the sunrise to swimming with Principal Liu—creating unforgettable memories. Just as the school year we shared with colleagues, filled with joy and friendship, has come to an end, this trip celebrates a year of hard work and strengthened our friendships. As this chapter closes, we honor the dedication and spirit of the 2024–2025 prefect team, whose accomplishments and camaraderie have left an unfading mark on our school community and in our hearts.

This year of collaborating with our School Prefects team has afforded me the privilege of witnessing education in its purest form—not as mass production on an assembly line, but as the organic flourishing of each unique individual. Here at SUIS Gubei, we have remained steadfast in cultivating a “trial-error-iteration-evolution” growth environment.
